Great Britain has a 3-0 head-to-head history over China since 2006. In the ranking round two days ago Great Britain finished fifth, while the local team was disappointing and is seeded No. 12.

Returning to archery after 12 years in retirement, Simon TERRY (GBR) has spent the last three years trying to get back to the form that won him the Individual and Team Bronze medals in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

The two teams start slowly with 53 points each in the first end.

JIANG, LI and XUE give the lead to China with only one arrow out of the gold in the next series of 6 arrows. With two 8s by WILLS and GODFREY, the British trails by 2 (106-108).

China and Great Britain continue with only 9s and 8s. The locals increase their lead to 4 with two more arrows hitting the yellow than their opponents (161-157).

Whereas everything was still possible in this match, TERRY and GODFREY shooting four 10s, WILLS jeopardizes his team's chances with a 6 and a 7 in the last end! China secure their 4-point advantage and beat Great Britain for the first time in three years to advance to the quarterfinal.
